Chapter 19

Dalton

Dalton couldn't believe what he was doing as he drove Dakota to the club. There was a part of him screaming that the last thing he should do was get involved with the younger man. The rest of him wanted it more than anything, and that was the part he was choosing to listen to right now.

They chatted lightly, letting the last bit of their food settle as they drove. Once they arrived at the club and found street parking, they climbed out and headed for the entrance. The bouncer checked them and nodded, allowing them both inside.

After paying and dropping their jackets off at the coat checkroom, Dalton walked with Dakota into the club. Since he was brand new to the area, he had never been here. He had a feeling Dakota was a regular, though, with how comfortable he was.

The thought of Dakota being a regular at clubs made him feel a little jealous.

The only hands he wanted touching Dakota's body were his own.

“Want to grab a drink first?” Dakota asked as he led them over to one of two bars situated on the far wall. “I'll buy the first round since you paid for supper.”

“Dakota--”

“Nope! It's my turn,” Dakota asserted.

The stubbornness in Dakota's hazel eyes and the way his jaw jutted out with such determination made Dalton smile and give in. “Sure,” he said as he followed Dakota to the bar. He glanced around the place and noticed that at least they weren't the first ones in the club. There were enough people to make him feel comfortable, but not enough to call it a party yet.

Dalton ordered himself a whisky while Dakota ordered another sugary cocktail. Dalton grinned as he accepted his whisky and watched Dakota pay the bartender. “You'd definitely be a mead drinker if you like sweet. Well, our stuff, anyway.”

“I always liked the bottles you've brought the few times we've met up,” Dakota said as he sipped his drink. Dalton knew that whatever he had ordered wasn't his favorite thing in the world but he was dealing with it.

“Let's go out onto the floor,” Dakota grinned as he sauntered out onto the floor where a few people were already moving to a dance mix. There wasn't a DJ yet, but Dalton figured one would come in later when the dance floor became lively.

“Sure,” Dalton easily agreed as he followed after Dakota. The way he moved with that extra swish to his hips made desire stir within. He tried not to think too much about how those same sinewy hips had thrust against him during their steamier moments...

“Do you dance often?” Dakota asked as he moved toward the center of the dance floor and turned around to face him. He swayed before Dalton while holding his drink in one hand and sipping.

“Not very often,” Dalton admitted as he stood before Dakota. He moved his hips, but felt like he was nowhere near as fluid or sexy as Dakota was.

“No? I would've thought a handsome thing like you would be out all the time,” Dakota teased with a wink.
